Vampire Weekend Announce Sydney Big Day Out Sideshow

Vampire Weekend have today announced that they will be stepping aside from the Big Day Out 2013 shenanigans for one night only while in Sydney. The group will be headlining one show at Metro Theatre.

In just two albums time, Vampire Weekend’s unique, upbeat indie swag is known, and praised throughout the whole world. Their self-titled debut tickled the fancy of taste makers all over the world, including good ol’ Pitchfork who scored the release a 8.8.

Contra, the sophomore release, landed the group a Grammy nomination, as well as produced a slew of successful singles. More than half a million copies of the charting release were shipped in the US alone.

That puts the hype around their third release into context. Almost nothing is known about the album, other than that it was “80% complete” back in July. No release date has been confirmed, and only an unnamed single has been performed (live on Kimmel). One thing’s for sure though, Aussie fans at both Big Day Out and the side show are sure to be privy to some brand spankin’ new material.

This is sure to sell out super quick, so take note of the ticketing info below!
