Nicki Minaj Pins Poor Album Sales As Retailers Bad

Despite her previously released album Roman Reloaded fairing quite well in the international charts, it appears that the re-release, titled The Re-Up, has been more of a Re-Down, but according to Minaj, it’s not her fault.

Speaking to US radio station Power 105.1 (Via Music-News) Minaj was quick to blame the poor sales figures on major retail outlets, stating that many of them have refused to stock the album, with Target being a major player in the coup.

“It’s hard to get the album because the stores basically said that the last few re-releases they had put out did not do well and they didn’t want to take a chance,’ she explained, stating that both Walmart and Target, who were integral sellers of the initial album, were showing little support. She added that the embargo “sets you up to fail”.

Surely it’s got nothing to do with people learning their lesson the first time they bought the album. Despite the fact that it features 8 new tracks, as well as the 7 original ones, fans don’t want much to do with it.

It’s been a rough release for Minaj who prior to receiving the album’s figures, was rejected from her NYC launch party. The gods aren’t favouring this one at all.

Though when all is said and done, Minaj does not regret releasing The Re-Up at all, “At the end of the day I’m happy that I was able to put the music out. The real reason for me to put out The Re-Up is because I wanted to have a bridge between this time and the third album. I wanted people to have music that I really stand by.”

Nicki Minaj will actually be in town this week. Hopefully ticket sales do a little better.
