Dave Grohl to Host ‘Sound City’ Special on Triple M

Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl will host a special limited-run program on Triple M titled Dave Grohl Presents Sound City. The segment will be broadcast weekly, beginning from 9pm (AEDST) Monday, December 3 and concluding on Monday, January 28th 2013.

Dave Grohl Presents Sound City will feature songs recorded at the storied Sound City Studio. Each week will cover a different period of Sound City’s history. The first episode is focused on 1970 to 1975, when legendary acts such as Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young recorded at Sound City.

Extending all the way to 2011, the series will cover some of music’s most significant bands and artists including, but far from limited to, Tom Petty, The Grateful Dead, Santana, Metallica and Nirvana.

The Californian studio is the subject of Grohl’s upcoming documentary, Sound City and the final episode will see Grohl talking about how and why he decided to make the doco. Grohl released the following statement about Dave Grohl Presents Sound City:

“I’m so proud of the Sound City film and beyond excited for the world to see what I’ve been working on for the past year,” Grohl said in a statement. “Even before that, though, I’m grateful to Triple M, and radio networks around the world, for giving me the opportunity to share all this great music and to let people know what got me excited about Sound City in the first place.”
