It would appear that rumours of New Found Glory‘s demise have been greatly exaggerated, according to guitarist Chad Gilbert. After reports came through that the band were going on hiatus, Gilbert has spoken out, calling bullshit, and has proof to back it up.
As the story goes, it was during an interview between vocalist Jordan Pundik and online publication Alter the Press, where Pundik’s remarks that the band were going to take some time off from touring was interpreted as them departing from the live scene. One thing lead to another and the word hiatus was added and, well, here we are.
Bad Alter The Press, you can’t do that type of stuff! Needless to say, the band were shocked to discover that they were taking a haitus, promting Gilbert to unleash a Twitter storm of correct information. And let me tell you, it’s a lot better than we were expecting.
Rather than going on a hiatus, the band have announced a new live album, which, according to Dying Scene, will contain new songs! Woo! The band also released the below picture, hinting at a X-mas-themed cassette release.
Check out the tweets below.
Who & why did someone say we are going on hiatus? That's the dumbest rumor I've ever heard! We love what we do. You couldn't pay us to quit!

Hey @alterthepress! Don't alter the press. Jordan didn't use the word hiatus! We are taking time off that's it. Maybe 6 months at most haha

That just means a new album duh wtf RT @mr_raccoon: @XChadballX "But to be honest I don't think we'll have anything new out until 2014"

First NFG live record w/ new songs next year!

Hiatus is not for NFG. We like playing shows and being a band more than anything. I think what Jordan said was misconstrued!

Work your butt off and one butthole adds his own statement to the end of an interview & the world believes it. Jordan never said those words

Anyway! Goodnight world. Glad you know the real deal now! A Hiatus can kiss my A$$!
