Matt Bellamy Breaks Foot, Muse Cancel Scandanivian Shows

Muse have had to cancel three upcoming shows on their arena tour around Scandanavia after frontman Matt Bellamy broke two bones in his foot.

Bellamy took to Twitter to express the news (and his pain) – uploading a couple of pics, including an x-ray of his injury. Alongside one of the photos, he wrote, “Ouch! Broke my foot… On crutches for a while”.

After being asked by a fan how the incident occurred, Bellamy replied: “I was running barefoot and slipped – my foot broke the fall on a concrete step!” You can check out the tweets and pics at the bottom of this page.

As a result, Muse have cancelled their three planned shows in Oslo, Stockholm and Malmo – which were scheduled for next week.

A statement on Muse’s official website said that the band felt that “they will not be able to do justice to their live show and the fans who have bought tickets with Matt performing on crutches.” Fans have also been offered full refunds for the shows.

The remaining dates on Muse’s run through Europe in December are still scheduled to take place as planned – with the band hoping Bellamy will be right to take to the stage on December 10 for their show in Helsinki, Finland. Read the full statement here.

Upon announcing their 2013 Stadium dates in Europe recently, the band said, “Watch this space for more date announcements for Germany, Norway, Finland and Denmark”. So, there’s a pretty good chance that the band will make up for the cancellation in style next year.
