Hilltop Hoods Announce ‘Walking Under Stars’… New Album For Next Year?

Could the Hilltop Hoods be dropping their second record in as many years in 2013?

Australia’s premier hip hop group – who won Best Urban Album at Thursday’s ARIA Awards – dropped a cryptic status on their Facebook page at the start of this week, which read as follows:

So it’s now one year to the day since we dropped ‘I Love It’ and started the ‘Drinking from the Sun’ journey. Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the last 12 months, it’s been amazing.

We hope you join us late next year for ‘Walking Under Stars’.

Thankyou,

Suffa, Pressure & Debris

The context of how Walking Under Stars was mentioned almost certainly implies a release containing that name will be forthcoming next year. And personally, I believe it’s a new album from the Adelaide trio.

As alluded to in our review of Drinking From the Sun earlier this year, at the end of the final track – The Thirst III – there was audio of what sounded like an interview with an album collaborator.

The collaborator says: “They were recording enough music for two albums, that was pre-meditated. They weren’t just like, ‘let’s make a record and we’ll pick the best 10 or 12 songs’, it was ‘from day 1, we’re making two albums.’

Sounds like the dots have been connected? Check out the track below, and skip to 1.12 to see what we’re on about.

Hilltop Hoods will play the Falls Festival in Lorne (sold out) and Marion Bay on New Year’s Eve.
