Singer’s Remains Found After Plane Wreckage Discovered In Mexico

It has now been confirmed that Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera has died following reports that the plane carrying her, her lawyer, publicist and several more people went missing while flying over Mexico.

At about 3:15 am Mexican authorities reported that they had lost contact with the singer’s private jet around 10 minutes after take off, or 62 miles from the airport, according to ABC News. It’s believed 7 people were onboard, including Rivera’s make-up artist as well as two pilots. A search began at sunlight, but it has now been confirmed by sources, including Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, Mexico’s Secretary of Communication and Transport, that the wreckage has been discovered with no survivors.

Rivera, who starred in two reality TV series, was also crowned Female Artist of the Year and Band Album of the Year in the Billboard Mexican Music Awards, according to Rolling Stone.

Rivera had performed in front of thousands only moments before boarding the plane. She was confirmed to appear on Mexican’s brand of The Voice in the near future.
