The Living End: The Retrospective Tour – Melbourne Leg

The Living End enter the final leg of their gigantic Retrospective tour this week – and what better place to finish up than in their hometown of Melbourne!

The band have been on the road since the start of November, with a week-long residency in all four capital cities (Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney). Something tells me that the band have been downing quite a bit of VB and throat lozenges to power their way through the shows.

On this special tour, the band have been playing one of their six studio albums in full each night. Their self-titled 1997 debut has had two airings in each city. Frontman Chris Cheney told us in October that the album’s success in triple j’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time poll last year was the instigator for the tour.

Now they’re coming home to Melbourne, and Music Feeds is getting in the spirit of the tour and gearing up for one huge Living End bender to help them celebrate. Yours truly will be heading along to all of the band’s shows at the Corner Hotel from tonight, Tuesday, 11th December, to Sunday, 16th December.

Every afternoon from tomorrow, a review of the show from the night before will be added to this page. As mentioned up top, the band are playing a different album every night, so it’s going to be really special to see them revisit all their old tunes from different eras.

If you’re heading along to any of The Living End’s record-breaking 11-show residency at the Corner Hotel (which stretches from December 11-December 22) let us know! A handful of tickets are still available for their The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating show on December 15, their Roll On show on December 20 and their U/18’s matinee show for The Living End on December 22. Visit the Corner Hotel website to snap them up.
