It appears that Brian ‘Head’ Welch has successfully ridden himself of the demons that led him to part ways with nu-metal godfathers Korn. The guitarist has confirmed to Rolling Stone that he will be joining his old bandmates for their forthcoming summer tour, and didn’t rule out plans to feature on the new album.
Despite being one of the most important components of Korn during his time with the band, Head tapped out back in 2005 to devote his life to Christianity and combat his meth problem – but there was one itch he just couldn’t scratch. After a surprise onstage appearance with the band at Carolina Rebellion Festival last May, which was met with thunderous applause, as well as the rise of his new project Love and Death, Head indeed appears to be back for the foreseeable future.
According to The Music Network, Korn drummer Ray Luzier confirmed that Head would be on their upcoming US/European tour during their performance at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). Luzier told the crowd, “I got a big, big announcement. Are there any Korn fans out there? I am extremely, extremely pleased to announce that Brian ‘Head’ Welch, the original guitar player from Korn, is joining Korn this summer for the tour.”
The good news doesn’t end there. Korn have entered the studio with producer Don Gilmore to begin work on their next offering. In response to whether or not he will play on that, Head comments, “Again, I’d say anything is possible.” Sounds like a yes to me.
