UPDATE 01/02/15: triple j’s 200-101 countdown for 2014 is on now!
For the first time in history, triple j is today broadcasting the next crop of tracks that just missed out on a coveted place in last weekend’s annual Hottest 100 countdown.
Dubbed the 2nd Hottest 100, the countdown features all the tracks that filled spots 101-200 in the 2012 edition of the world’s biggest music poll, which was taken out last week by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘ Thrift Shop.
Interest has built up over the 2nd Hottest 100 in the recent years, as fans are curious to find out how close their song was to making the Hottest 100. Last year (2011), triple j released a list of the top 101-200 tracks a few days after the countdown, which was owned by Gotye’s all-conquering hit Somebody That I Used to Know.
And this year, they’ve gone a step further and decided to broadcast them all over one day of programming, to effectively create another Hottest 100 party for those of you still kicking on from last weekend. Speaking of the original Hottest 100 – you can hear it replayed in full tomorrow (Sunday).
