Beck is currently working on a reinterpretation of David Bowie’s 1977 single Sound And Vision as part of series titled Hello, Again. Funded by automotive company Lincoln, Hello, Again is a project in which various artists will revisit and reimagine the work of other artists (a cover series).
As posted on Beck’s website, the singer’s reimagining of Bowie’s Sound And Vision is far more than your average cover. Beck will deliver a special one-time performance of Sound And Vision with the help of director Chris Milk and a 170-piece orchestra.
The performance will take place on a specifically built circular stage. The audience will surround the performers, and the audience will be surrounded by a ring of speakers. The venue has been constructed with the purpose of experimenting with a “multi-directional sound environment” that allows the audience to move around within the enclosed 360º area and thus “change the direction of the audio in real time”.
