Rage Against The Machine Album On The Way After All?

Once again the emotional roller coaster that is the Rage Against The Machine rumour mill has taken another gut-dropping twist with fresh hints of a new RATM album inadvertently restarted by Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler.

During an interview with Metal Insider, Butler was asked if RATM drummer Brad Wilk, currently drumming in the Black Sabbath recording lineup, is likely to join Sabbath when the band hits the road this year minus Bill Ward. Butler said his band are unsure if Wilk can join the reunited metal band due to commitments with RATM.

“We’re not sure yet. We don’t know beause I think Brad’s got commitments with Rage Against The Machine,” revealed Butler. “So it’ll probably be either Tommy [Clufetos] or Brad, depending on their commitments.”

Being that RATM have no announced tour dates, the term ‘commitments’ could potentially mean a new RATM album. Of course, Butler lived through the 60s and rocked through the 70s with Sabbath so his mind may not be what it was. Wilk is part of Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players who have numerous shows coming up, including at least one Australian gig which will hopefully include Wilk.

It is possible that Butler confused RATM and Sound City Players.

Meanwhile, RATM guitarist Tom Morello will be in Australia in March joining Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The last we heard from Morello on the subject of RATM he emphatically stated the band will not be working on new material in the foreseeable future.

For now we’ll just have to hold on to the (possibly false) hope that bassist Tim Commerford‘s comments to TMZ last November regarding the new Rage album might still come true.
