Maynard James Keenan Says ‘No Actual Songs’ Written For New Tool Album

Maynard James Keenan, I am in awe of your abilities. But, sir, with all due respect…please cut the crap. Keenan has made two references in the past couple of weeks to the fact that no songs have been written for the forthcoming Tool album, despite drummer Danny Carey telling the world the exact opposite.

They love doing this sort of thing, I swear. Keenan has been gracious enough to admit that he has been jamming with his Tool buddies, who haven’t released an album in more than 7 years, but that is as far as they have progressed, it seems. The frontman has commented to Spin.com that, “Basically, right now it’s a lot of ideas. Jamming… It’s still kind of noodles in a big basket… Lots of noodles, just no dishes.”

The first mention of a new material drought happened at the start of the month in an interview with a Chilean radio station, where Keenan went as far as to say that there will be no new Tool album in 2013 at all.

Keenan also stated that he’s only been jamming with A Perfect Circle. Now, even though the last Tool album, 10,000 Days was dropped in 2006, it’s been 9 whole years since APC released any new material, but once again, no dishes. Puscifer, on the other hand, are currently killing it with the new tunage. The band recently announced Donkey Punch The Night which will be released officially Tuesday, 19th February.

Regardless of the conflicting stories, every band mentioned in this article will be in Australia soon. Let’s find solace in that for now, but I think I speak for everyone when I say, “Maynard, cook some damn dishes already!”
