Sir David Attenborough Announces Australian Speaking Tour, June 2013

Arguably the world’s most famous documentary narrator (well, for the English langauage anyway) Sir David Attenborough will return to Australia in June for another leg of his A Life on Earth speaking tour.

Pedestrian reports that due to “unprecedented demand”, the filmmaker, naturalist, conservationist and broadcaster will chat to audiences in Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne in some special theatre dates.

Apparently, Attenborough’s show will “take audiences on an incredible journey through his extraordinary life, his untold stories, the evolution of filming techniques and his passion for bringing us closer to nature”.

Sir David’s career stretches over a whopping six decades, having began in 1952 when he joined BBC Television Talks Department. In 1979 more than half a billion people worldwide watched his 13-part series Life on Earth, which he wrote and produced himself.

He was knighted in 1985, and met the Queen again in 2005 when he was awarded the Order of Merit, which recognises exceptional distinction in the arts, sciences and other areas.

Tickets for all shows range from $95-$235 and are on sale Monday, 25th March.
