Call it just another publicist stunt, but at least this one’s for a good reason. The perenially embattled 2Day FM will be changing its name for 24 hours to 2Gay FM as a demonstration of their support for the same-sex marriage cause.
According to Radio Today, Austereo will be converting the 2Day Fm logo, all advertising, promotions, imaging, presenters, the website – literally anything to do with the Sydney radio station – to reflect the new name. The promo has kicked off and so far remains exceedingly tasteful. You can check out ad, featuring Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, below.
“2DayFM are strong believers of marriage equality and the station hopes to make a difference in Australia, big or small,” their statement reads.
The switch will take place to coincide with Mardi Gras, which has snuck up on us, like it does every year, and takes place this weekend in Sydney.
