James Blake Announces Sydney And Melbourne Shows March 2013

James Blake has announced two hastily organised shows in Sydney and Melbourne later this month in support of his forthcoming album Overgrown.

Blake will play the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on 19th March, before heading to Sydney three days later to play Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on 22nd March.

In a rare and intimate setting, the shows will be his first on our shores since the 2011 Splendour in the Grass, where he was riding a gigantic wave of hype behind his self-titled debut.

The shows will be the first chance for fans to hear tracks from Overgrown – due out on 5th April. After collaborating with the likes of Brian Eno and RZA on the record, Overgrown is being billed as an album that casts light on a further evolved Blake, one with fewer boundaries, a richness of depth and newfound intensity.

Tickets go on sale this Monday, 11th March at 9am. However, if you sign up to the Secret Sounds mailing list by midnight tonight, you will get access to a special pre-sale before the gigantic rush for tickets on Monday.

UPDATE: 11/03/13

Unsurprisingly, tickets for James Blake’s intimate shows in Sydney and Melbourne have SOLD OUT the same day they went on sale. Despite the 2 gigs seemingly being scheduled out of nowhere, fans needed little notice to get the message and secure their tickets.

Reportedly Sydney’s Verbrugghen Hall sold out in less than 5 minutes while The Corner in Melbourne set a personal record by exhausting allocation in less than 60 seconds. Those left wanting will have to patiently wait until Blake announces a proper national tour behind upcoming album Overgrown.
