Watch: Beach House’s Surreal New Clip ‘Wishes’, Directed By Eric Wareheim

Beach House have released the official video for their latest single, Wishes. Taken from the dream pop duo’s 2012 album Bloom, the new single is adrift in blissful synths and plays with Beach House’s signature weightlessness.

As for the clip, the music video was directed by Eric Wareheim, of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! fame, and stars Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, Mad Men), who mimes the lyrics while performing at…some kind of…futuristic lacrosse half-time show? No idea. But it starts weird and gets weirder, gradually adding capoeira, poi and modern dance to the proceedings before Wise mounts a stallion mid-performance, rearing the beast in triumph at the conclusion of the show.

As reported by Pitchfork, director Wareheim said he loved working with Beach House, a band he claims to hold as one of his all-time favourites:

“Beach House, Ray Wise, fireworks, and horses. How can I go wrong? This is the first project that I’ve ever collaborated creatively with the band. Victoria’s imagery inspired me to create this special half time show. It also helps that Beach House is literally on my top 5 list of bands, ever.”
