Mötley Crüe To Call It Quits After Returning To Australia

Just when it was looking as though they would outlive us all, Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx has announced during a backstage interview with themusic.com.au that the band have one more record in them before they announce their farewell tour dates and rquit the biz for good.

The band have been together for more than 30 years now and, despite how determined they are to wrap things up neatly and professionally, Sixx is anticipating an emotional farewell:

“I love this band. I fucking spent my life doing this band. I’ve been doing this band longer than I’ve been doing anything else. And I’ve been in this band longer than I’ve known any woman, longer than I’ve known my children – only my family, and I have a closer relationship with my band than I have with my family, and a rockier relationship with my band than I’ve had with anybody in my family as well… So it’s very emotional.”

I know what you’re thinking, but Sixx goes on to deflate any ideas that the band will reform a few years after for a tacky, god-awful reunion tour, explaining that they won’t just be laying The Crüe to rest – rather, they will endeavour to “blow its fucking brains out”:

“It’s important that when you do a farewell tour that people understand that when you put a bullet in the back of the horse’s head, and it goes down, it’s not a plastic bullet – it’s a fucking shotgun blast. You know, blow its fucking brains out, it’s never coming back. It has to (be that way)… It’s the only way I can look at myself in the mirror and do a farewell tour. That’s it. So when we take our final bow, it’s IT. I will cry. I cry thinking about it.

He went on to describe their farewell tour, confirming, “We’ll be back in Australia and, ah, that’ll be it… I can honourably say, ‘We did it our way and we’re never coming back.'”

Sixx also confirmed that the band will be wrapping up their movie, an adaptation of the band’s collaborative autobiography, The Dirt: Confessions Of The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, as well as publishing a soundtrack for the film before they embark on their final shows.

It won’t be the end of Nikki Sixx, however – the Crüe member recently promised that he will be finding more time to release music from Sixx:A.M. and hopefully more time to tour it.

You’d struggle to find a bad word about any of Mötley Crüe’s recent performances Down Under with Kiss. Old-school fans seem very much pleased with the state the band is in and it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer until they’re back again. Even though it will be the last time we see them, at least we’ll have time to get over this heartbreak.
