Michael Jackson’s 3 children Blanket, Paris and Prince along with MJ’s mother, Katherine Jackson, are seeking nearly $40 billion compensation from AEG Live, the company behind Michael’s planned comeback concerts at O2 Arena in London.
According to NME, Jackson’s mother and offspring want to recover all lost future earnings, projected at almost £7 billion (AUD$10.2 billion) should Michael still be alive and continuing to perform. Meanwhile, an addition £19.8 billion (AUD$28.8 billion) is being pursued for various damages.
It is alleged that that AEG Live were negligent in its hiring and supervision of Dr Conrad Murray, who was found to be responsible for MJ’s death in 2011. NME reports that the civil case is will begin in LA next month on 2nd April. AEG are expected to battle the astronomical sum based on the argument that MJ’s career was in decline at the time of this death.
Michael passed away aged 50 (almost 51) on 25th June, 2009 only weeks before his comeback concerts were due to begin. Since his death, Michael’s estate has earned nearly $1 billion, with much of those earnings being used to clear the deceased singer’s massive debts.
