Aussie Start-Up Bringing Mixtapes To Smartphones – Praised At SXSW

Sharetapes is a name you might not recognise now, but given the fact that the Aussie start-ups behind the project have been awarded Best 6-Second Pitch at SXSW, that surely won’t be the case for much longer.

Sharetapes give people a way to physically distribute their very own playlists stored on their iPhones. YouTube, Spotify and 8tracks are just some of the services that offer playlists that will be compatible. The playlist will be sorted on a physical VHS-type tape that you can give out at gigs, at presentations, and just about wherever you damn well please.

This type of technology is referred to as New Field Communication (NFC) and is currently on the boom. Sharetapes are just one NFC that this particular start-up company will be releasing throughout the year.

DJs, bands and producers now have an extra trick up their sleeve in a era where content is king. Check out the Facebook page for more information.
