For many years, Australian fans of Norwegian black metal crew Enslaved have had to watch on from a distance but, at last, our time has come – in the wake of their 12th studio album Riitiit, the band have announced a brief but sufficient run of Australian tour dates.
For more than 2 decades, Enslaved have remained fairly unchallenged on the throne atop Black Metal Mountain. With each release their support base grows stronger and Riitiit was no different. The album was met with critical acclaim and even earned the #1 place in UK’s Metal Hammer Top 5 albums of 2012. Their live shows are the stuff of legend, with the band oozing the type of live presence you only get from devoting 20 years to your craft.
Sydney-based Rise Of Avernus has also been announced as main support for the tour, injecting even more brutality into the shows. ROA is faced with the daunting task of introducing a band to Australian crowds for the first time ever, but they killed it with Apocalyptica, so they’re sure to kill it again.
First allocation of tickets are only $45, for a strictly limited time. Tickets available from 9am Thursday, 28th March.

Tour organisers have announced that, due to red-tape at immigration, the Winter Rite tour has hit a snag, with Enslaved shows in Australia now postponed until late October/early November. Tickets already sold to previous shows will be valid for new shows, and if you can’t make the news shows refunds can be obtained.

“Australia’s Immigration policies & procedures are constantly changing & updating and is quite simply something we must work around when booking a tour. Unfortunately we have found ourselves in a situation where complications have arisen due to changes with the Entertainment Visa requirements. That means that there is a good chance the Visas for Enslaved would not have been approved & sorted in time for this tour. This is quite simply an unfortunate circumstance which could not have been predicted and now must be worked around….To us, this tour simply must happen! It has been agreed by all involved with this tour that pushing the shows back to a later date will be the best course of action to ensure that this tour can go ahead.”
