Listen: Primal Scream – ‘It’s Alright, It’s OK’

Primal Scream have unveiled a new song from their forthcoming album More Light, which is expected to have a local release in early May.

It’s Alright, It’s OK is the lead single from the record and is now streaming on SoundCloud. The track – written by Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes – is available for your listening pleasure at the bottom of the page.

More Light is the follow-up to 2008’s Beautiful Future – and will feature cameos from Mark Stewart (The Pop Group) and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin). The record is the band’s first with new bass player Simone Butler, who replaced Gary Manny ‘Mani’ Mounfield after he rejoined The Stone Roses last year.

Bobby Gillespie previously told Q Magazine late last year that the album would be pretty “guitar-driven” and filled with “modern rock ‘n’ roll”.

“It’s a rock ‘n’ roll record, but modern rock ‘n’ roll. Pretty psychedelic rock, it’s kind of guitar-driven but we use guitars in an orchestral way, not in the normal way people make rock records.

“I think we do it in a more interesting way. We weave the guitars in with electronics and other acoustic instruments to make the core sound.”

Primal Scream were in the country last year for a series of sideshows and as headliners of the Meredith Festival.
