Your favourite Arizonians, Jimmy Eat World, have announced that the follow up to 2010’s Invented will be out this June – titled Damage, the band have yet to release a single piece of music from the record but have unveiled the cover art and a full track list (below).
Singer-guitarist Jim Adkins told Rolling Stone that this album is an adult break-up album, saying, “I’m 37 and the world around me is a lot different than when I was writing break-up songs in my 20s. I tried to reflect that in what the lyrics are.” But don’t worry about Jimmy Eat World getting all easy-listening on us – Adkins promises that Damage is still “pretty energetic”.
The record, which was recorded last October in producer Alain Johannes‘ home, has no lead single just yet, but the title track will be released as a 7-inch on 20th April to support Record Store Day. It also features a cover of Radiohead‘s Stop Whispering.
Jimmy Eat World kick off a world tour in May. No plans to hit Australia just yet, but the boys are no strangers to our shores, so keep your fingers crossed.
Damage will be released by RCA Recordings internationally on 11th June.
