The Angels Bassist Chris Bailey Dies Of Cancer, Aged 62

The Angels bassist Chris Bailey has passed away aged 62, after suffering from what is being described as an aggressive form of throat cancer. Bailey reportedly died at 12:30 this morning, with The Angels posting the news via Twitter earlier today.

As the band notes, Bailey performed on 6 Angels albums, including 1978’s Face to Face, 1979’s No Exit and the band’s latest album, last year’s Take It To The Streets. A farewell tribute show, which was originally to be a benefit show, is set to take place at the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide on Wednesday, 17th April.

The show will feature numerous special guests including Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss and The Angels’ Rick and John Brewster. For all ticket information head over to Event Feed.

Bailey’s passing comes in the wake of original Angels frontman Doc Neeson being diagnosed with a brain tumor back in January. It was in the same month that the band released a statement about Baily’s condition, noting at the time that, “He is amongst the very best bass players this country has ever produced, and has always been a great and loyal friend.”

Music Feeds sends our condolences to Bailey’s family, friends and fans.
