Richie Sambora Quits Bon Jovi World Tour Citing “Personal Reasons”

Sad news, Bon Jovi fans – Richie Sambora has pulled out of the current Bon Jovi Because We Can world tour due to personal issues after failing to take to the stage in Calgary, Canada earlier this week.

The Livin’ On A Prayer legends confirmed that their 53-year-old guitarist would not be playing via their official website, explaining that, “Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled.”

The exact reason for his cancellation has not been confirmed, although Sambora has struggled with substance abuse problems in the past and dropped out of the band’s 2011 tour to go to rehab. But Contact Music is reporting that the cancellation has nothing to do with drug abuse and everything to do with tensions between Sambora and frontman Jon Bon Jovi, claiming the two have had a “classic Jagger/Richards blow-up” over money.

Sambora thanked fans for their concern on his Twitter account but didn’t expand much further on his decision, saying “I’m well, but had to stay in LA to take care of a personal matter. Love you all and see you very soon”.

There’s speculation that Sambora may rejoin the band later in the tour. Let’s hope, whatever the reasons behind Sambora’s departure, it’s all sorted by the time the boys bring the show Down Under this December.
