Aerosmith Cancel Sydney Show To Co-Headline Stone Fest?

Dream On, Aerosmith fans – the bad boys from Boston will reportedly no longer be playing a solo Sydney show and instead Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and company have announced they will be co-headlining the Stone Music Festival a week earlier.

Noise11 reports that the band released the following statement to fans today:

“We are writing to you today to advise you of a major announcement pertaining to the tickets that you purchased for the Aerosmith concert scheduled for Sunday 28 April, 2013. It is with great pleasure that we announce that Aerosmith will now be co-headlining the Stone Music Festival on Saturday 20 April, 2013 with Van Halen.

“Stone Festival will be Aerosmith’s only Sydney performance and Van Halen’s only Australian performance. Both bands will perform full, greatest hits sets. This will mean the original Aerosmith concert date on Sunday 28 April, 2013 will no longer take place with all ticket holders receiving equivalent ticket allocation for the Stone Music Festival on Saturday 20 April, 2013”.

The hard rock legends join an impressive line-up – as well as Van Halen, punters can catch Billy Joel, Jimmy Barnes and Icehouse amongst others at the 2-day event. The festival has already had its fair share of drama, with much-publised battles between its promoters and organisers.

Prior to today’s announcement, organisers teased ticket holders and potential ticket holders with news that a ‘major addition’ would be thrown into the mix. Aerosmith is fairly major we’d say and now, with only a matter of days until showtime, it looks as though Stone Music Festival, despite the doubts and concerns, has pulled it off.
