Warped Tour Australia 2013 – Line-Up Rumours Begin + All The Latest Info

Don’t get it twisted – the return of the legendary Warped Tour to Australia is no small deal. Those left standing will remember the last time we were trusted with such an event, only to totally trash the joint – but only because Unwritten Law told us to, right?

This year, the same team who bring us Soundwave and Harvest festival each year will be relaunching Warped, and we’ve gathered up as much info as we can about the locations, dates, what to expect and that all-important line-up you’re all so eager to know about.

UPDATE: Check out our new and revised Final Countdown list for all the latest info in the lead up to the lineup announce!

THE STORY SO FAR…

A.J. Maddah had been getting nostalgic, talking to his mate Kevin Lyman – the creator of Warped – about the good old days, sparking the decision to bring back the tour to Australia. Since then, he and Lyman have been ploughing through name after name, venue after venue trying to shape this festival into something special – a return to the DIY aesthetic of punk festivals gone by.

We know that the festival is going to be some time in early December, with an official line-up announcement to come in mid-May. We’ve also been told that there will be NO SIDESHOWS on the Warped Tour, at least for this year, as organisers want to keep the focus on the main event.

WHAT TO EXPECT AND WHERE…

We’re not looking at a slick, polished festival like Soundwave – Warped will have more of an old-school feel, more local bands and DEFINITELY no stadium-sized acts…with maybe just a taste of black metal.

Whilst no venues have been confirmed, A.J. is striving to make this a national, all-ages event. Previous Australian Warped Tours have had stops in regional centers slightly outside of main cities and our sources have strongly indicated that this will again be the case for 2013. It’s also likely that, much like in the US, shows could go down in a park and/or car park.

But folk from the big smoke need not worry – A.J. has already confirmed that Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Coffs Harbour are on the cards too, though sadly Perth will likely be given a miss this year. Extra special news for Melbourne too – you’ll finally be getting your weekend festival!

TICKETS AND DATES…

So far, all we know about tickets is that they can be expected to go on sale soon after the announcement, and that they’ll hopefully cost around $99+bf

The tour will start in Brisbane on 29th November and move clockwise around the country, finishing in Adelaide on 8th December. Full details can be found here.
