Avril Lavigne Announces Marilyn Manson Collaboration

Canadian pop princess Avril Lavigne has a yet-to-be-named album coming out, and Marilyn Manson features on one of the tracks. The song is called Bad Girl, and 28-year-old Avril is describing it as a “heavier track” on a diverse record, telling Billboard:

We’ve got these pop-rock tunes, and then these piano ballads with orchestras. I have a heavier song that Marilyn Manson’s on called ‘Bad Girl’ and then I’ve got a song called ‘Hello Kitty’ that sounds like nothing I’ve done before. ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’ is one of the rock tunes on it, but it’s all over the place.

Here’s To Never Growing Up is the lead single from the record, released earlier this week – you can check out the video below, made up of fan-submitted photos and videos. The track is co-written by her fiancee, Chad Kroeger, aka the Nickelback frontman, aka the Paddle Pop Lion. The song references ‘singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs’, which Lavigne has explained by simply saying, “Creep!” Did anyone else get a mental image of Chavril languishing in Thom Yorke-style self-loathing and find it strangely pleasing? Oh. Just us, then.

Avril Lavigne’s fifth studio album is due for release this winter.
