Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) has hooked up with record label Modular to create the winter festival Dark Mofo. In its inaugural year, Dark Mofo will overrun Hobart from Thursday, 13th June to Sunday, 23rd June.
Celebrating music, art and nakedness, Dark Mofo will provide concerts, performance, art exhibitions and a nude solstice swim throughout Hobart’s streets, parks and at least one pool or swimming hole. Over 10 days Dark Mofo will be providing a series of events with various acts and artists.
O-Night (Opening Night) features Perth outfit Canyons, who will be on hand to administer their mysterious new project, 100 Million Lights. Recently debuted at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, Canyons put the project together with Sydney-based artist Daniel Boyd.

Those attending Dark Mofo’s opening night can also expect live performances from Movement, Naysayer & Gilsun, and a DJ set by Melbourne’s Otologic.
Martha Wainwright will deliver her dynamic sound on the 13th of June while The Presets will play Dark Mofo on the 15th June with the support of Hermitude and DZ Deathrays.
June 19th You Am I take over City Hall to play two albums, 1995s Hi Fi Way and 1996s Hourly Daily, in full back-to-back. Frontman Tim Rogers will also be on hand for the festival’s Vandemonian Lags project
Dark Faux Mo consists of My Disco, Super Wild Horses, and others on the 21st of June. Then the very next night Satanalia on 22nd Junes boasts The Drones, The Stickmen, Boris, plus plenty more.
