The success of Get Lucky, the first single from Daft Punk’s forthcoming album Random Access Memories has set the bar for just how anticipated new Daft Punk material really is. The track now holds the crown of most streamed song within a 24-hour period on Spotify.
Released to the streaming service on Friday, it was a no-brainer that the latest jam from the French duo would be a smash. No exact numbers have been provided by Spotify but according to Contact Music, the last track to have the title was Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop and that jam was flogged non-stop last year, so we’re clearly talking big numbers here.
The single was released as a cheeky bump to get fans in the mood before they get their grubby mitts on the full bag. Get Lucky features some funky bass slappin’, and the smooth vocal styles of Pharrell Williams; one of the many mentioned guest artists set to appear on the record.
The particular version that hit the streaming service is the radio edit, coming in at just over 4 minutes, whereas the album version hits just over 6. If you’ve been following the online evolution of the track, you’ll know that there’s a piano intro of sorts, and no doubt we’ll hear more of that funky synth lead in the outro.
