Daft Punk Drop Latest ‘Collaborators’ Video Starring Chilly Gonzales

Daft Punk, Daft Punk, Daft Punk, Daft Punkety-Punk – we’re starting to suspect that’s all we need to write to justify another damn article on your favourite eccentric Frenchman. But as long as they keep releasing Random Access Memories teasers, we’ll keep bringing them to you. This time it’s another one of those whacked-out The Collaborators videos and this installment’s star is Canadian singer and pianist Chilly Gonzales.

Gonzales says he was brought in to work on the harmonic side of Random Access Memories and that Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter specifically sought him out to write bridges between songs in different musical keys. Gonzales, noted for previously working with Peaches, Mocky and Feist, surprisingly doesn’t really like collaborating with other artists but says, “You make exceptions for people who are in possession of some true key to the zeitgeist.”

OK, we’re starting to understand how Daft Punk decided who to work with on this record – they chose a selection of the kookiest interview subjects they could find. We’re loving it almost as much as we hope to love Random Access Memories, which, in case you’ve been living under a rock, will be released on 17th May.
