More Details Surface On Beck’s Elusive New Album

When Beck was last in town, performing as a key feature at Harvest Festival 2012, he casually told triple j’s The Doctor that he was working on a new album, like it ain’t no thang. Understandably fans have been keen for more information on the release and it appears that time has come.

Pitchfork have revealed that the album, which started to take shape all the way back in 2008, will see Beck strip down any electronic devices and strap on the old timber and steel, with the release said to be that of an acoustic nature not unlike fan favourites Sea Change and Mutations. The album will also come hand in hand with a run of acoustic shows across the US.

Word is, the tunes will be premiered on the tour so the album will most likely drop after that, hopefully with a couple of cheeky live performance extra tracks or something along those lines.

Technically speaking the last release to come from Beck was 2012’s Song Reader, which was strictly sheet music to be interpreted by musicians as they saw fit. The last audio release proper from the dude was 2009’s Modern Guilt so it’s definitely time for fresh material.
