PVT Unveil Cameo-Laden Stop-Motion Video For ‘Homosapien’

Sydney experimental rockers PVT have dropped the clip for their latest single Homosapien, the title track from their fourth studio album. It’s a world-class display of instrument switching, all shot in high-contrast grayscale.

Homosapien is the last in PVT’s trilogy of videos made with director Clemens Habicht, following the live experience clip for Window and their adventures in 3D for Vertigo. The Homosapien video does a pretty nifty job of utilising stop-motion and features blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos from 40-odd faces, including Jack Ladder, Sarah Blasko, Kirin J. Callinan and even the mother of band members Laurence and Richard Pike.

Habicht said the idea was to put some different faces behind PVT’s notoriously complex tunes:

“It is one of those complicated PVT tracks that would be impossible for anyone but them to play and what makes them such a great performance band, seeing them actually make this music live on real instruments. So the idea is to make anyone else improbably able to play it.”

PVT are about to embark on a run of European dates before heading home to play Splendour In The Grass in July.
