San Cisco Recount UK Robbery Attempt By Knife-Wielding “Fool”

You can imagine the delight on a particular UK-based criminal’s face when after stumbling upon an unguarded van chock-a-block with pelican cases full of San Cisco’s gear, but it appears they may have bitten off more than they could chew.

Speaking to triple j, the band tell the tale of their night in Bristol, after a gig supporting Darwin Deez. “Our tour van was broken into,” they began. “We were in Bristol and after a show, left our tour van to retire to bed. In the morning we went to the van to find it had been trashed!”

Fortunately the Fred Astaire kids weren’t exactly dealing with Sean Connery from Entrapment here, but rather a “fool” who “left his phone on the front seat and then managed to get himself locked in the rear compartment with all the guitars and gear”.

The would-be robber apparently tried to MacGyver his way out of the predicament using one of the band member’s pocketknives:

“We found [Jordi’s] knife sticking out of the door, which he used to try and pries himself out. He cut himself badly and left a trail of blood over our gear and the van.

“He must have panicked because he only stole the GPS, a set of headphones and Jordi’s jumper. But he wrecked the tour van, destroying the ignition and pulling the TV and radio out.”

As the story goes, the band kicked on to their next show via the Tube while another hire van was employed to pick up the gear.

San Cisco are now back in the country, ready to kick off their next Australian tour in support of their single Beach. Jordi’s jumper remains listed as missing.
