AC/DC Fans Launch Kickstarter Campaign To Fund Bon Scott Memorial

AC/DC fans, which should in fact be all of us, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for a much needed ode to departed front man Bon Scott. The permanent feature, taking the form of a statue, will be erected in the town of Kirriemuir, Scotland where Scott spent a good portion of his childhood. Due to the campaign’s powerful rhetoric and incentives the cash has started to flow and the target of £50,000, or $76,960.00 AUD is looking more and more likely.

Describing the vocalist as “arguably the greatest rock ‘n’ roll front man of all time”, the campaign inspires AC/DC die-hards to hand over their cash in exchange for a something in return. Putting in £1 will get your name on a thank you letter. If you’re willing to fork out £2,500 you’ll get a limited edition 350mm replica of the monument to do with as you please.

The campaign already has the support of several local councillors as well as local businesses, so the baton has now been handed to fans to take it from here. Already his hometown has paid homage with a plaque and a street named in his honour. Renowned sculptor John McKenna has been approached to design the statue, the prototype of which you can check out below.

Organisers have 22 days left to reach their target amount.
