Good Guy Seth Sentry Saves Paralympian Fan From Angry Mob

Serial nice guy and Aussie Hip Hop ambassador Seth Sentry has come to the aid of a Perth fan who got on the wrong side of those in attendance at a packed Freemantle venue. Of course, the mob were unaware of the full situation at hand but Sentry was all over it, plucking the fan from the crowd and taking her the safety.

The drama started when Sentry, currently tearing down venues all over the country on his Dear Science tour, requested the crowd all be seated for his performance of What’s My Scene. This was fine for just about everyone but 26-year-old Paralympian Kat O’Kelly-Kennedy who uses a prosthetic leg. Physically unable to participate, and left as the only one still standing, the crowd quickly turned on O’Kelly-Kennedy.

Speaking to W.A Times the fan recalled: “When he said ‘I want everyone to sit down’ I knew straight away I wouldn’t be able to do it and my chest sunk to my stomach because I knew there was no space for me to put my leg out.” The basketballer explained the crowd’s reaction made her feel like “a deer in headlights – in that moment, that seemed like forever, I just wanted to get out of there.”

O’Kelly-Kennedy was born with a leg half the length of other one, and at 18-months old had her foot amputated. Since then she has been living with the prosthetic leg, which makes crouching, or sitting down, much more challenging.

“I’m a pretty confident person in most situations, but this was starting to take me back to my school days where I hated being the odd one out because of my leg.”

After her friends tried to get his attention, it seems Sentry cottoned on to what was happening. “He realised what was going on and quickly asked if I’d like to sit on stage with him and DJ Sizzle, where there would be more space.”

Following that:

“They helped me up there, sat me down, chatted to me to make sure I was OK and after introducing me to the crowd and letting them know I have one leg, Seth proceeded to sing one of my favourite songs What’s My Scene? even including my name at the start.”

The bronze-metal winner summed up that, “It could have gone one way or the other, but he made it into an amazing night.”

The word hero is thrown around a lot these days, but for Seth Sentry it truly applies.

Sentry’s tour continues throughout May and who knows what other stories are to come.
