In Flames Take Year-Long Tour Break To Start New Album

Given their fondness for performing live, this must have been a hard call for Swedish metal cats In Flames to make. Guitarist Bjorn Gelotte has told KQXR 100.3 The X Rocks that they’ll be taking a year off from the road to get cracking on their new full-length album.

The band haven’t toured in Australia since 2012 but they’ve kept a fairly solid presence in North America and Europe. Gelotte seems pretty disappointed about the decision, but understands it needs to be done, “[This is] the last 30 minutes for a year,” he said. “We have to do another record, well, don’t have to, it sounds like [I’m being punished], but I really enjoy that process.”

The most recent release from In Flames was 2011’s The Sound Of A Playground Fading, which made a serious impact. As keen as fans are to see it performed live, Gelotte explains there’s no way around it, “We’re lazy, which means that we don’t really work on the road. I think it’s two different worlds.”
