Come Together has never failed to pull together a fantastic festival lineup, and this Saturday’s iteration is no different. Making its debut in 2005, the festival blossomed within the grinning gates of Sydney’s Luna Park, emerging as one of Australia’s finest indie festivals with its admirably savvy roster and carnivalesque atmosphere.
Since then, and through the hip hop oriented events of the last few years, Come Together has seen the crème de la crème of Australian musical talent take to its stages, with a sprinkling of internationals thrown in for good measure, and the festival’s success rests largely on the shoulders of one man.
From the get-go, promoter Gary Grant has been responsible for delivering a hugely diverse array of bands to draw the eager festival crowds over the years – from 360 to Against Me!, The Presets to Strung Out, Karnivool to Augie March.
On the eve of Come Together’s 10th anniversary (with two events in ’05 and one each year after that) Gary reminisced with Music Feeds, putting together a brief selection of his favourite memories, triumphs and personal highlights from the festival’s 8-year history.
