Arctic Monkeys Debut New Song ‘Mad Sounds’ At European Festivals

Arctic Monkeys played blistering sets at both Sweden’s Hultsfred festival on Friday and Denmark’s NorthSide festival on Sunday, debuting new track Mad Sounds at both and setting off more speculation about when we’ll see studio album number 5 from the English indie quartet.

The fan-filmed footage of Mad Sounds from both gigs has some surprisingly decent audio, giving us a solid first listen to the sweet ballad, which features a slow burn and some intricate guitar work. It’s not our first taste of new stuff from the Monkeys of late, however, with the outfit playing another new song, Do I Wanna Know?, at a gig at Ventura Theatre in California back in May.

This all seems to be suggesting we’ll see a follow-up to their 2011 record Suck It And See sooner rather than later. The English band have been holed up in the Californian desert writing album number 5 for some time now, with drummer Matt Helders saying the record will be very “2013”.
