Full Cast Revealed For INXS Mini Series ‘Never Tear Us Apart’

The full assortment of Australian acting talent selected to reprise the roles of INXS band members for a new mini series has now been revealed. The Shine production Never Tear Us Apart, set to air on Seven later this year, has been given the tick of approval from the existing band members, some of whom will be consulting on the set.

Former Packed To The Rafters star Hugh Sheridan (perhaps better known as Ben Rafter) will be performing as bassist Garry Gary Beers with Lachie from Winners & Losers, also know as Luke Arnold picking up the main spot as Michael Hutchence – most likely on account of his uncanny resemblance to the departed frontman. Kirk Pengilly will be portrayed by Alex Williams who came to public attention after his lead role in Underground: The Julian Assange Story.

As for the Farris brothers, Tim will be played by NIDA graduate Nicholas Masters, with the latest addition to The Offpsring Ido Drent as drummer Jon and Andy Ryan as keyboardist and songwriter Andrew.

The band’s manager Chris Murphy, who is co-producing the series, will be portrayed by Love My Way actor Damon Herriman. Murphy isn’t the only insider on the crew – Tim Farriss has taken on a consulting role, recounting real-life tales from life on the road.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time with the cast and I’m amazed – at times I actually thought Michael was there,” Farris says of the young talent. “It has been all forms of emotion for me (but) I’m very excited.”

The 2-part mini series will tell the tale of the band’s rise to fame through the 1980s, so unfortuntaely no-one will be reprising the role of J.D. Fortune. The series will play particular attention to Hutchence’s spiral into depression following a motorbike crash in Thailand.
