They’ll Be Apples

The Kandy Apples have been a long time coming into fruition. Singer/guitarist Meaghan Blake started out in 2006 playing her original songs solo on her electric, the audience response though always positive regularly included the advice that “with a band behind you, you could really rock out!” This started the wheels turning and the search was on to find the right people to help flesh out the songs and take the music to the next level.

The original line-up debuted in 2007, in times since a couple of great players have entered and left the fold, all leaving an indelible mark on The Apples and their sound. Mid 2008 saw new drummer Damian Kukulj added to the mix, joining Meaghan and bass player/vocalist Casey just in time to enter the studio to record their debut EP.

The Kandy Apples were fortunate enough to have their first single ‘Stef’s Song’ produced by Ian Pritchett and Gene Mitchell at Noisegate Studios. Several recent Noisegate-produced releases have garnered both critical acclaim and chart successes including the last four The Beautiful Girls albums and Angus & Julia Stone’s last album ‘A Book Like This’ which has just hit platinum sales.

After pulling themselves away from the studio for some world travel, The Apples are now ready to re-introduce themselves to the live scene.  The Kandy Apples launch ‘Stef’s Song’ upstairs at the Sandringham Hotel (387 King Street Newtown) Friday September 12th, supported by special guests: Brian Campeau, Heidi Elva and Emfatale & The Scary Rabbits.

The show will also include the unveiling of ‘The Kandy Apple Pie’ created in their sexy, biting image. plus each copy of ‘Stef’s Song’ comes with a complimentary edible Kandy Apple of your very own.
