Eminem’s Drug Addiction Nearly Killed Him: “My Organs Were Shutting Down”

It’s no secret that Eminem has battled drug addiction in the past but in the new documentary How To Make Money Selling Drugs, the real Slim Shady candidly talks about the extent of his problem with prescription medication.

In the doco, Marshall Mathers III opens up about how his Vicodin use crept up on him until he was a full-blown addict close to death.

“Had I got to the hospital about 2 hours later, I would have died,” he says. “My organs were shutting down – my liver, kidneys, everything. They were going to have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I would make it.”

Em also discusses his hairy journey to sobriety in the clip, describing 3 weeks with no sleep while detoxing off the sedatives.

How To Make Money Selling Drugs also features interviews with 50 Cent, one-time dealer Freeway Ricky Ross and retired Baltimore cop-turned-activist Neill Franklin, examining America’s “war on drugs”, styled as a 10-part sales presentation for wannabe dealers.

Eminem is set to release his yet-to-be-named eighth studio album later this year and recently made a brief appearance on a DJ Tony Touch mixtape.
