Phoenix Get Quirky In New Video For ‘Trying To Be Cool’

We’re pretty sure French indie superstars Phoenix have never expended any energy on their effortless cool, but they’re telling us otherwise with their brand-new video for Trying To Be Cool, part of Intel and VICE’s The Creators Project, and the latest single from their fifth studio album Bankrupt!

The CANADA-directed clip for Trying To Be Cool is a send-up of a behind-the-scenes video, mostly shot in a single take, and sees the quartet play live while some shenanigans involving sparklers, paint explosions and a bit of the old zero gravity take place – you know, the kind of stuff that wouldn’t be out of place in an OK Go video.

You probably remember The Creators Project for that part awesome, part pesky series of teaser interviews they dubbed The Collaborators in the lead-up to Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories release, but the project has also seen the brands work with Karen O, Animal Collective and David Bowie, amongst others.
