AFI Announce New Album ‘Burial’ Set For October Release

AFI are striking while the iron is hot, announcing plans for their new album ‘Burial’ off the back of last week’s single I Hope You Suffer.

We can’t confirm the Australian street date, as so far the only date announced is that for North America. The US will be able to sink their fangs into the release Tuesday, 22nd October, so give or take a day or two for us.

This will be the 9th album from the band, but holds a special place amongst their catalogue as this is the first album release from the band to be facilitated through Republic Records.

Frontman Davey Havok has opened up about the meaning behind the release, the first definitive statement from the band since they first teased us with a cryptic trailer back in April:

“This record is of silence, of burials, and the burials that result from that silence. It’s of betrayal, cruelty, weakness, anxiety, panic – deep and slow – despair, injury and loss. And in this it is shamefully honest and resolutely unforgiving.”

Sounds, uh, intense. Check out the latest single I Hope You Suffer below, and stay tuned for an Australian release date.
