John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ Microphone For Sale On Craigslist For £1,500

A seller on Craigslist in London is asking £1,500 for the Neumann microphone that Beatle John Lennon allegedly used to record his vocals for his 1971 album Imagine, which spawned the iconic hit of the same name and was co-produced by Phil Spector.

The mic was reportedly taken from Ascot Sound Studios in Tittenhurst Park, which was built by Lennon and Yoko Ono in their Berkshire home and then later sold to Ringo Starr. The authenticity of the piece of equipment has not been validated but the seller promises it’s the real deal, stating, “All documentation is authentic as it was my brother who purchased it for me as a gift a number of years ago”.

If it is genuine, £1,500 seems like a steal, with a custom-built VOX guitar played by Lennon and fellow Beatle George Harrison fetching $408,000 USD when it went up for auction back in May, over $100,000 more than its pre-auction estimate. The front door of Paul McCartney’s childhood home sold for $7,300 back in April, and a piece of George Harrison’s half-eaten toast supposedly once sold at auction for $2,200, proving that there’s not much in the way of Beatles memorabilia that fans won’t pay money for.
