New Avalanches Material, Matt Corby & Missy Higgins Collab For Upcoming Compilation

An upcoming compilation forged by the creative minds at camp Mushroom is set to feature an array of previously unheard gems from some of their biggest acts including The Avalanches, The Rubens, Cloud Control and a collaboration between Matt Corby and Missy Higgins.

In an exciting twist, most of the artists set to feature are yet to be revealed, though given what we already know it’s safe to say they’ll be big. The aforementioned artists take up but 4 of the 15-track release, with the remaining 11 expected to be unveiled by Thursday, 8th August at 11pm AEST.

The Avalanches have begun teasing their involvement with new material, and the more of Cloud Control’s forthcoming album Dream Cave, the more we want. On top of that, Matt Corby and Missy Higgins teaming up is sure to result in one of fine moment in modern Australian music.

A website has been launched with a count down to the announcement, which is a serious amount of effort to go into unless they’ve compiled a truly ultimate tracklist. No word yet on a release date – they’re clearly still taming this beast but more info is sure to come soon.

UPDATE: Sigh. It had to be too good to be true, didn’t it? Further to this morning’s announcement from Mushroom, The Avalanches’ label, Modular, has issued a statement clarifying that the group’s inclusion on this upcoming compilation is not, in fact, new music, but a fresh remix.

What IS exciting is that Modular confirm that The Avalanches are indeed in the studio, finishing up their long awaited follow up to Since I Left You. So that’s good news, ultimately. Check the full statement below.

Further to an announcement from the Mushroom Group earlier today, The Avalanches have done a remix of ‘Talking To A Stranger’ (not a new track) for an upcoming tribute album.

The remix is cut up with an old disco sample, and is not new music from The Avalanches.

The Avalanches are currently still in the studio, putting the finishing touches on the follow up to 2000’s internationally acclaimed Since I Left You.
