Lorde Makes History On Billboard Charts, Announces Debut Album ‘Pure Heroine’

It’s no surprised that New Zealand’s Australia’s own Lorde is currently killing it in the charts, but it may come as a surprise to most to hear that Lorde is now the first female artist to top the US Billboard alternative chart in 17 years.

Lorde’s single Royals has shot to the top of the alternative charts off the back of her much hyped US appearances, making her the first female artist to hit the number one position since Tracy Bonham released her 1996 mega hit Mother Mother. Interestingly enough, that particular single was released before Lorde, currently 16 years of age, was even born.

Lorde’s current gangbusters single, Royals, is her first official chart entry (much like Mother Mother was for Bonham) and has taken out the pole position held by just a few female artists, including Alanis Morissette, Sinead O’Connor and Kate Bush.

The Splendour lifesaver has also revealed details of her debut album on Instagram, posting a picture of the cover, which includes the title Pure Heroine, and a release date of 30th September. Being a Monday, that’s likely the US date, so hold tight for word on a local release.

You can check out the tracklist for Pure Heroine below, and if you haven’t check out Lorde’s single Royals yet, who are you? Srsly. You can watch the US version of the official video below, slowpoke.
