Calvin Harris Tops World’s Highest Paid DJs List For 2013

If there’s one thing all music lovers have in common, it’s a soft spot for a good list and today Forbes has delivered a list of the highest paid DJ and electronic producers of the year and so far the top 10 seems to be an orgy of over-paid douche bags of whom we are all very jealous.

Calvin Harris seems to be a constant theme for the Richest DJs list, and this year he takes the crown, racking in a mind-blowing $US46 million. It’s a pretty safe #1 by the looks of things, with runner up Tiësto coming up short by $14 million with his yearly earnings of $32 million, though we doubt he’s overly fussed about it.

David Guetta never fares as well as you’d expect him to, what with anything he produces reaching saturation point almost instantly, and the Frenchman has had to settle for third place above Swedish House Mafia who managed to pull $25 million this year, even though they are no longer a thing.

Avicii is sure to be hurting after DJs the world over started to remove Levels from their set, making an absolutely lousy $20 million this year. Afrojack is 6 places off being the richest DJ around but no-one’s told him that – the dude continues to live big, crashing Ferrari 458s and buying more the next day… $18 mil a year can’t support that lifestyle very long.

Forbes compiled their list having assessed the profit from live shows, endorsements, merchandise sales, recorded music sales, external business ventures for all included by gathering data from Songkick, Pollstar, RIAA, promoters, managers, lawyers and the artists themselves.
