Stone Temple Pilots With Chester Bennington Announce New EP ‘High Rise’

Scott Weiland seems to be pretty much dead to his former band, Stone Temple Pilots, who are forging full steam ahead with their new singer, Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington, and announcing their plans to drop a new EP this October, entitled High Rise.

The new tunes will be released under the moniker Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington, a move that no doubt aims to circumvent the various lawsuits going back and forth between the Plush legends and their former singer over who has the right to use the name, which has been going on since the band booted him from the line-up back in February.

Weiland recently told Florida radio station The Gater (via Rolling Stone) that the alt rock outfit would have to buy him out of the band, saying:

“They didn’t follow the rules that were set down… There has to be a reason for letting go a member; you have to give them a certain period of time to deal with it whatever different ways you want them to do.”

But STP seem to be doing better than ever without Scotty Boy, giving credit to their claims he was holding the band back. High Rise will have five tracks, including the previously released single Out Of Time, and is out in the States on 8th October. Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington will be bringing their live act to Australia for Soundwave 2014.
