Lamb Of God Facing Ban From Malaysia For Being ‘Satanic’

It seems not everyone is excited about Lamb Of God’s return to the live stage following Randy Blythe’s nightmare incarceration. The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has begun campaigning against the band, who are scheduled to perform Kuala Lumpur as soon as Saturday, 28th September.

Jakim’s main beef with the respected metal outfit is that the band, in their opinion at least, is Satanic. Pointing out track names such as Walk With Me in Hell, Sacrament and Resurrection as examples of the band’s pact with The Devil himself, Jakim’s Director General Datuk Othman Mustapha told the New Strait Times:

“Lamb of God had drawn many controversies and was dubbed a ‘satanic’ band that fitted evil spirituality and anti-godliness even by the Christian community, The name Lamb of God also referred to Jesus that Christians referred to as the son of god.”

Jakim’s complaints against LOG become more specific as the statement goes on. Apparently unimpressed by the band’s use of Quranic verses aired during their run of North American tour dates, and the fact that the band’s 2000 album New American Gospel is in direct contract to islamic values, the statement adds:

“The organizing of such events do not only corrode morality but also the faith of Muslims. Performances by heavy metal outfits that were often extreme also encouraged its audience to lose control,”

Jakim’s campaign is in full swing, with a memorandum being submitted to several government departments in order to ban the band before their show.

Aussie authorities, on the other hand, can’t wait to seal the deal with Lucifer when the band hits Australian shores in a matter of weeks. Check out some hell-raising snaps from their last Australian tour below.
